From our LWVUS President Dr. Deborah Turner –
It is beyond devastating when our nation, and the world, loses such an icon but more importantly such a morally just person as Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I know you are all probably awash in a jumble of emotions, thoughts, and anxieties at this moment.
I would like you to know that Virginia, the National Board, staff, and I are here to support you and help in whatever way we can. You will be receiving further communications over the next several days addressing many of the issues that will arise.
Please allow yourself this moment to think about where we are and where we are going, feel and acknowledge this loss on a personal and national level, and prepare to fight for what we know is right without reservation.
Finally, we want to acknowledge and celebrate the incredible breadth of Justice Ginsburg’s life. We are a better nation because of her, and we should feel awed and honored to have walked this earth during her lifetime.
