U. S. HR 1900 – the Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act

Write to PA U.S. Senators and urge them NOT to approve HR 1900 that has already gone through the House.

HR 1900 would:

1. Set an arbitrary time limit (12 months) for a FERC decision without any real basis for that time limit.

2. Streamline the approval of eminent domain authorization for private corporations to take private property potentially undermining property owner’s ability to protest their rights.

3. Set an arbitrary time limit (90 days) for all other decisions – federal, state, and local – that are based on federal laws.

4. These arbitrary time limits would seriously undermine federal, state, and local review of a whole variety of significant permits and 7 approvals (Clean Water Act permits, coastal zone management, air quality and construction permits, NPDES permits, wastewater discharge permits, etc.)
