Membership News November 2013

COFFEE at KENDAL
Our Open House at Kendal was wonderful again this year. To all who attended…..thank you for helping to make this event so successful. I love seeing familiar faces, renewing friendships from Kendal and Crosslands, catching up with League members from all over the county and meeting guests who stopped by to say hello and find out more about the League. Doug Spencer was especially helpful in working towards a great turnout. Guests who joined the League at this event are Ann Hazard, Anne Humes and Patricia Schultz. Welcome to you and ALL of our new members this year. I suspect we will be adding even more new members in the next few weeks.

MORE NEW MEMBERS
Janet Bowers of Coatesville, Pauline Hutchinson of Chadds Ford and Mina Johnson of Kennett Square. Hope you will have time to get involved in some of our committees. We look forward to working with you and hearing YOUR stories about “WHY I JOINED THE LEAGUE”.

GET WELL
To League Member Charlotte Gosselink. Char – So sorry to hear about your broken ankle. That will certainly keep you out of commission for a few weeks. Wishes from all of us for a speedy recovery!

CONDOLENCES TO A LEAGUE FAMILY
Former League member Graham Boose passed away on September 27. Graham was an avid gardener and member of several organizations including the Junior League Garden Club, Grove United Methodist Church Board of Trustees and AAUW. We send our deepest sympathy to the Boose family.

BELATED CONGRATULATIONS TO DR. JUDITH CURTIN
We are very proud to acknowledge an honor bestowed to one of our League members. Dr. Judith Curtin was one of two local business people named Honorary Rotarian for 2013 by the Rotary Club of West Chester. Judith is a board-certified doctor of audiology and owner of ABC Hearing, interactive healing solutions. She was honored for providing meritorious performance in the furtherance of Rotary ideals and high ethical standards in business, community, personal life and internationally. To make her year even more exciting, she was nominated for the March of Dimes Woman of Achievement award, and just last week her business was elected Reader’s Choice for Hearing Aids in Chester County by the Daily Local News. Congratulations Judith!
