Meet Our New Members

Welcome to the League of Women Voters – Barbara N., Genevieve M., Bill and Gail V.W.

Barbara has lived in Exton for 27 years and currently works in West Chester at Planned Parenthood.

She writes: “I am interested in joining the LWVCC and have just sent a membership check in. I am new to the organization and would like to help at any of the next events – the Melton Center Community Day, the Library outreach and Voter Registration at the Exton Mall. I would like to do something useful. My mother was a long time LWV member in Springfield and with the Pennsylvania Voter ID issue getting me all riled up, I think it is past time for me to become more politically involved.” Genevieve is from Allentown, PA and currently in her last semester at West Chester University. She writes: “I will be graduating in 3.5 years this coming December with a major in Political Science and minor in Peace and Conflict Studies. I participated this summer in the NEW Leadership Seminar held at the Pennsylvania Center for Women in Politics, where I went through diversity training, focused heavily on passion driven leadership, and discovered how important it is that I continue to focus on my involvement in community building. Since returning to West Chester after studying at PCWP at Chatham University, I have been interning at the Brandywine Health Foundation in Coatesville. I plan to continue to intern with them through December, and remain a committed volunteer there after that. Additionally, I work for Burton Snowboards as a sales representative out of their location in the King of Prussia Mall. I’m really looking forward to being involved with the League of Women Voters here in Chester County and learning a lot! I am excited to get started and attend activities, and feel that my participation will assist in enhancing everything I have learned in the WCU Political Science Department!”

Bill and Gail V.W. live at Kendal.

They write: “We moved here in May, from Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, where we counted on the League of Women Voters for information and the education of the electorate. We actually got your brochure from Doug Spencer (a new League member at Kendal), and are meeting with him about political activities here. We’ll look forward to receiving the materials you’re sending, and meeting you on October 29 at the COFFEE at KENDAL.”

We hope to meet Barbara, Genevieve, Doug, Bill and Gail and ALL of our new members at future events and out on the trail educating and informing our Chester County voters.

And welcome new League Board members, Cheryl Knoell and First Vice-President Jennifer Levy-Tatum. Both are very active League members who wanted to step into leadership positions. They will also have the responsibility to vote with the other Board members on important policies and issues that affect the League and our community. Ladies – thank you for your commitment and service to the League of Women Voters.
